Genaro Cantu Jr. of Plainfield, IL, passed away May 12, 2025 at the age of 85. He was born February 11, 1940 in Chicago, IL where he lived until his enlistment in the United States Marine Corps in 1957.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Phyllis, nee Bozzelli; his son, Genaro III; his daughter and son-in-law, Marianna and Joe Heredia; his daughter-in-law, Mallory Cantu, nee Hewlett; and his granddaughters, Madeline and Bailey. He was preceded in death by his parents, Maria, nee Guzman and Genaro Cantu; his brother, Robert Cantu; and his son, Philip B. Cantu.
Family and friends are invited to attend a memorial mass Tuesday, May 27, 2025 at 11:00 am at St. Andrew The Apostle Church, 505 Kingston Drive, Romeoville, IL 60446. Per his wishes there will not be a wake or visitation. A private interment ceremony will be held at a later date at the Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood, IL.
