

Enid Blackshaw Hill, nee Baines, 93, of Olympia Fields, Illinois, passed away peacefully on September 19, 2025, surrounded by her loving family after a short fight with cancer. A beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, she will always be remembered as an adventurous spirit who loved to travel.
Born on March 7, 1932, in Leigh, Lancaster, England, Enid grew up as the only daughter of Clarice and John Baines and the sister of David Baines. She trained as a registered nurse at the Southport School of Nursing. Upon completion of her nursing training, she traveled around the world and found herself in the United States. There she met the love of her life, Samuel Hill. They married in Southport, England, on September 25, 1971. They had one child, Jonathan Hill, in September 1974. She was blessed with a daughter-in-law, three grandchildren, and one great-grandson. As a registered nurse, Enid devoted her life to caring for others. At the end of her career, she worked in counseling, helping people with drug and alcohol addiction.
Enid is survived by her son, Jonathan Hill, and daughter-in-law, Kristen Hill, nee Reisse; as well as her stepson, Ken Hill; and her grandchildren, Trowa Hill, Erin Hill, nee LeTourneau, Quillan Hill, and Freja Hill. She is also survived by her great-grandson, James “JJ” Hill, and her step-grandson, Theo Hill. She was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel Hill.
A Celebration of Life for Enid will be held Sunday, October 5, 2025, from 1:00-3:00 p.m. at Tews-Ryan Funeral Home, 18230 Dixie Hwy, Homewood, IL 60430.
