Paul H. Wegner was born on May 1, 1934 in Fairbault, Minnesota to Elsie (Schrader) Wegner and Carl William Wegner. He died April 14, 2026 in Naples, Florida where they had spent the winters. He passed away peacefully with his family by his side.
At age 3 his family moved from the farm outside of Fairbault to Northfield, Minnesota. After graduating from Northfield High School, Paul went to Dunwoody Technical Institute studying home building. After which, he worked for a home building contractor in Northfield building over 60 homes where he was the finish carpenter.
In 1955 Paul volunteered and joined the U.S. Army. After basic training he was sent to radar school in Texas. He completed several months of training and then was assigned to Fort Hamilton in Brooklyn, New York to be a radar control operator. Paul said his journey on the train was interesting as it took three days for the train to travel across just the state of Texas. Paul enjoyed being in the Army and put his heart into it, just as he did with everything else. When his commanding officer realized how talented he was in woodworking, he offered Paul the job of being the battery carpenter as well. Paul loved having his own shop on the base. He was very proud of being a veteran and treasured his time in the service. In 1957 Paul was awarded an honorable discharge from the Army.
On June 23, 1962 he married Marguerite Schroeder Wegner at Trinity Lutheran Church in Northfield, MN. They enjoyed 67 wonderful years together and loved being with their children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Paul graduated from Mankato State University in 1965 with a Bachelors Degree in Industrial Technology and in 1968 with a Masters Degree in Industrial Technology. He then taught Industrial Technology at Lake Crystal, Minnesota for five years, Tech High School in St. Cloud and then was part of the staff that opened Apollo High School in 1970.
When Paul retired after a long career in teaching he was able to concentrate on his love of fishing. They had a cabin on Lake Winnie for 25 years where they also enjoyed a lot of family time.
Paul is survived by his wife Marguerite, his children Jeff P. Wegner, (Michelle), Beth Wegner, (Mark), and Suzanne Anderson, (Mark).
His grandchildren are Halee (Alex), Kieley (Michael), Padraig, Aidan (Gwena), Jimmy, Tommy (Morgan) and Hunter.

Paul Wegner was a great man. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He touched the hearts of every person he met from his family to his students to his friends. He had a very quiet manner and was an incredible listener. Paul cared so deeply for his family.
