

Mary Frances Platt, age 83, of Naples, Florida, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 19, 2026. She was born on July 16, 1942 in Connersville, Indiana, to August W. Doerflein and Florence Miller, who preceded her in death.
She was also preceded in death by her loving husband, Robert “Bob” Platt, with whom she shared 36 wonderful years of marriage.
Mary is survived by her children Ronald Steigerwald (Ester), Donald Steigerwald (Donna), Constance Tabares, Robert Steigerwald, and stepchildren Wendy Smith and Robert Platt (Mandy).
She was a devoted Grandma to her grandchildren: Jessica Steigerwald, Michelle Ortolano (Scott), Johnathan Steigerwald, Jarrod Brisson, Hayden Platt (Rachel), Adrian Roldan, Joshua Steigerwald (Christina), Ciara Steigerwald (Jacob), Kean Cheney, and Ty Cheney.
Mary was also a beloved Nana to her great-grandchildren: Dyllan Steigerwald, Zaine Jeffries, Caliana Jeffries, Lila Ortolano, Brayden Reinertsen, Logan Ortolano, Juliana Sayers, Rylee Platt, and Briggs Platt. She was recently blessed to become a great-great grandmother to Abel Jeffries.
She will be greatly missed by her brothers, Dan Doerfein (Linda), Mike Doerflein, Tom Doerflein, as well as sister Sandy Ernest. They will always cherish their many fond memories of Mary.
In 1960, Mary graduated from Seton High School in Cincinnati, Ohio. She was a dedicated and hard working woman who held many jobs throughout her life, including serving as a clerk for the Collier County Tax Collector’s Office. Most importantly, she cherished being a homemaker and helping care for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved spending time with family, cooking, baking, and she had a green thumb.
After retirement, Bob and Mary enjoyed life in Tiger, Georgia, where they spent 16 years in the beautiful mountains. During that time, she became a devoted Atlanta Braves fan and enjoyed watching her boys play baseball. Nearly five years ago, they returned to SWFL, moving to Cape Coral, Florida, to be closer to family and eventually she returned to Naples, Florida.
Mary was an incredible woman, whose love, strength, and devotion to her family will never be forgotten. She will be missed beyond words by all who knew and loved her.
A private family celebration of life will be held in May in Naples, Florida.
