Uncle Lloyd had the heartiest laugh, and such fun stories from his life and travels. I could listen for hours. 

I loved the beautiful home in New Hampshire. We were always welcomed so warmly. We'd discover the latest technologies : laser discs, PCs before they were really public (we even "blew" his by answering it in French!).

It was nice having Uncle Lloyd and Aunt Eleanor nearby while I attended Gordon College. I remember clothes shopping with Aunt Eleanor and sewing a skirt on her machine; Uncle Lloyd taught me to drive one summer on his pick-up (and I actually got my licence) ;)

I was so happy to see them again in November 2016 in Florida, and experience some of what they loved there. Minds still has sharp as ever. Uncle Lloyd's laugh still as hearty and contagious.  

Thank you both for such happy times and wonderful memories. I love you Aunt Eleanor, God bless you and keep you, always.

2007 Faremoutiers, France - Elizabeth (Dixon) Moreton and family

Although a man of many years, this was a surprise.  I had been looking on the internet for some of my cousin, Dick's, reports and summaries of his lectures as my grandson might find them of interest.  Now I have read the wonderful tributes to him both here and on Linked-In.  My very first memory of this remarkable man was of him coming ashore after sailing at Cedar Cove in Swansea.  We were 15 years apart and even in that early year of mine, my fondness for him was there.  With that difference in age, I did not see a great deal of Dick, but enough to know how special he was.  And I must wrap him up in my thoughts with his brothers, Billy and David.  They were quite the dear boys who grew into a very special trio of men who contributed to so many in their respective fields.  And none could have been more caring and loving to their parents, especially to their mother as she entered her years surpassing the 100 mark (my Aunt Gladys and Uncle Lloyd).  The boys were always warm and with a wonderful kind sense of humor.  I so enjoyed going over to my aunt and uncle's house for dinners or just a visit with the "boy cousins".  How could anyone not find going down into the basement to play with that incredible train set!   As Dick and Eleanor began their family with Melanie and Laura, I felt so special as I was often called upon and able to baby sit the girls by walking them around Rochester Street, often given a shiny silver dollar (which I still have several).  I did not see Dick as often as Billy and David, but enjoyed him when I did.  I think all here know he was of exemplary character, but I hope many know, too, what a wonderful singing voice he had!  Many memories but I shall end now sending my sympathy to Melanie and Laura and all the family.  I'm glad you had him for so many years and that you take comfort in his transition to a higher calling.  My best to you all.  Love, Elizabeth (Dixon) Skiles

My big brother Lloyd (or Dick as we called him within the family, to distinguish him from our father) was a major influence in my life in my early years. After all, he was almost eight years older than I was.  Yes, my younger brother David and I were often the targets  of his good-natured teasing, but that never interfered with the positive things I learned from him. I remember one time, when I was a first grader in school,  being with him in the kitchen of our home in Swansea, Massachusetts,  watching him engaged in some project or other. (I think he was doing something with his saxophone, which he played in the school band.) At one point, I made an observation using a bit of extracurricular language I had recently learned in school. He didn’t let that pass, but told me clearly but gently that we don’t use that word. And I’ve never used it since. 
From an early age, Dick’s interests were in science and technology. He did electronics in the navy, in which he enlisted shortly after high school, then went on to get an electrical engineering degree at RPI. But on the way down that road, he showed me something of what science was like. When I got my first Gilbert chemistry set at the age of about 10, with its tiny bottles of various chemicals, he was right there showing me how to mix the sulfur, powdered charcoal, and potassium nitrate together to make gunpowder. It was great fun, after wrapping it in paper, setting it alight and seeing it burn like miniature fireworks (outdoors). Actually, I learned from him that there was much more to chemistry than just gunpowder. And perhaps that’s what led me to go into chemistry as a career.  And there are many other things I could recount. 
Thank you, brother Dick, for being there for me and making a difference in my life. I love you and I miss you. I know I’ll see you again, in the house of the Lord, forever.

I have known Lloyd for many years.  He was a very special friend to my husband and me., highly intelligent, and yet very caring and humble. Everyone who knew Lloyd respected him, when you met him you were an immediate friend. He loved his wife, his daughters and mostly he loved the Lord and was always willing to share how God changed his life. Lloyd, without knowing it, probably had a great impact on many lives—-I know he did on me and I am grateful to have known him.    You will be missed Lloyd,    Joan Long

Joan and I first met Lloyd and Eleanor  at our church. Such a sweet couple. We were immediately drawn to them. Lloyd was obviously a brother in Christ and we shared our Christian  faith and experiences.
Lloyd always had a cheerful continence. Later he was at my table for men's Wednesday evening meeting. Always happy to participate in bible  discussions and be an active participant with the other men. I will miss his humor and wide ranging knowledge of most topics.

Dear Brother Dick,

So many memories !  You were nearly ten years my senior, and despite your frequent teasing, I admired you from my youngest days in Swansea, MA.  In many ways you were an example to me.  But you accepted and appreciated me.  I am thankful for the insights you have shared.  I am grateful for your love, and for the encouragement, support, and assistance you and Eleanor have given to Joyce and me in our ministry in France.  I recall so many happy times together, and in particular, yours and Eleanor’s loving hospitality in Boxford, East Kingston, and Naples.  And yes, there were the times on your sailboat, some quite memorable!  It has been a joy for me to see you grow spiritually and in love for our Lord.  And now you are with Him, and I have the assurance of seeing you again in an incredible life that will never end.

Dear Dad,
Thank you for all you have done as a father through the years.  You inspired me to work hard at everything I did.  You instilled in me the love of sailing and the ocean (encouraging me to buy a Hobie Cat back in the day) and we shared the love of woodworking (often comparing the size of our table saw and other tools!).  Andrew and I have such fond memories of the time we joined you and Mom in Maine (with Chaco!) and our trip to New Zealand in 2003.  It is so hard to say goodbye to your physical self, but you will always be with me.

Uncle LLoyd was in many ways a larger than life family figure for me.  I greatly enjoyed time spent with him, growing up and as an adult.  His passing brings great sadness.  

Our thoughts and prayers are now very much with you all as you face such a loss. We pray that God may grant you a great peace and lots of strength in the coming days and weeks.

Uncle Lloyd was one of a kind.  His sharp wit and humor were his trademarks, and I will always remember the trips we had on his beloved sailboat, summers with the Gaston  clan in Cape Cod and Nags Head, and even in Houston while in town for one of his seminars.   He will be missed.  A big man with a big heart.

Lloyd, what memories you shared with our whole family. I met you at age 12, you 22.  We grew up sharing family outings and you testing all our senses of humor with your quick wit! Our wonderful trips to various homes in Massachusetts and Maine. Our favorite sailing adventures which you did your best to dump me in the ocean while I was asleep on the front deck. And of course, all our singing adventures in Florida where you always stole the show. God bless and rest peacefully Lloyd and look over all the people you love.

Many pleasant memories of Lloyd...our Maine vacation clamming and swimming in such cold water, the beach at East Sandwich, and our lovely tour of England.
In Naples, he became the new director who brought stability  to our association, The Retreat at Naples, that was in dire need  for his professional talent.  His commitment was greatly appreciated by the membership.
On a lighter side, Lloyd always enjoyed family gatherings , joining in our song fests with his fine tenor voice.
I will miss Lloyd, but am grateful he was a part of my life.

Dearest Grandpa, 
I'll always remember your special smile and how your hearing aid would whistle when ever I hugged you goodnight! Our song-filled road trips when I was little, and how you would wink at Grandma with such love across the couch whilst we watched old movies together. I'll forever be thankful for your infectious joy, for the depth of your presence as a family man and as a devout follower of Jesus. You inspired me so much and although you were so intelligent you always kept love at the forefront. Thank you for everything you so generously passed on - I'll miss you greatly but deeply trust we will all be reunited one day!

Patty and I are so sad to hear the news, it was such fun to hear Lloyd and Patty speak "engineer" to one another.  If you were to look up the word class act in the encyclopedia, you would find that it would refer you to Lloyd Dixon. He was one in a million.  Sending our love & prayers to the family.
