Jerome Joseph Magdziarz

(Jerry) Magdziarz, 79, passed away on March 15, 2023, in Naples, FL, where he lived for 12 years. Jerry was born in Homewood, IL, on December 19, 1943, to the late Virginia and Raymond Magdziarz. He later lived in Calumet City, Homewood, Crete Illinois and then Colon, MI. Jerry attended Bishop Noel Institute High School and Thornton Fractional North High School. He is a 1966 graduate of Purdue University, where he attained a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering. He began his career as Staff Assistant to the Director of Operations of Commonwealth Edison in Chicago, IL, and later served as Vice President of Engineering at Meany Electric in East Hazel Crest, IL, and then Chief Estimator and Project Manager at Linear Electric in Orland Park, IL. A kind and soft spoken gentleman, Jerry enjoyed playing cards and games with his family and friends. He loved coaching and playing softball, and he was an avid golfer. He will justly be awarded his “hole in one” in heaven. Jerry is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Judith (née Doering); three children, Mark (Christine) of New Lenox, IL, Dr. Daniel (Peggy) of Lemont, IL, and Timothy (Tara) of Kenmore, WA; and grandchildren, Michael, Abagail, Grace, Lauren, Dylan, and Sydney. He is also survived by his brother James (Michele) and sister-in-law Linda Schwinn. He was preceded in death by his parents and his beloved brother Michael (Donna). He also leaves behind beloved nieces and nephews and many dear friends. A “Celebration of Life” will be held in Naples, FL, and Colon, MI and Illinois in the near future. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Avow Hospice of Naples, FL, or the Naples Botanical Gardens.
