Janice M. Finizio was born on September 5, 1935, to Jordan and Edith Cruse, in Detroit MI and attended Cooley High School where she was an outstanding student and President of the Girls Society. Jan attended Hillsdale College where she met the love of her life Tobin A Finizio. She majored in English/Journalism and wrote two columns in the Hillsdale Collegiate about fashion and current events and was a member of Chi Omega Sorority.
In 1958, she and Toby married as he started Columbia School of Dental Medicine. Jan worked as a bookkeeper while Toby completed dental school. Their life took them through White Sands Missile range and on to Maryland.
Jan assisted Toby in starting his Oral and Maxillofacial practice in Maryland and raising their children in Potomac. Jan was a devoted wife to Toby, mother and Grand Jan. She was very proud of her children, Robin Kessler Esq. (John), J.Lee Finizio RDH, Dr. Tobin A. Finizio II (Michelle), Ann Daly RDH (Robert), Christy Daly RDMS (Mark), and her 12 grandchildren, Dr. John J. Kessler II, Dr. Jordan Finizio-Hochman (Josh), Tobin A. Finizio III MA (Abigail), Dr. Michael J. Finizio (Dai), Conor J. Daly, Madison Finizio RN (Rigo), Shea Daly, Victoria Daly, Allison Daly, Layne Daly, Julia Daly, and Matthew Finizio.
Jan enjoyed entertaining and cooking for family and friends. She loved to dance and travel with Toby. At Grey Oaks, Jan enjoyed playing golf. Later in life, she took up knitting and made over 400 articles of clothing for US Veterans donated through her DAR chapter.
Mass will be held on May 21, 2025, 10 a.m. at St. William Catholic Church, Naples, FL.
