Above all else, James loved his family. He showed up in the ways that mattered, through steady support, a willingness to lend a hand, and the simple gift of being present. He loved a good round of golf and any chance to be near the water. One of his favorite sayings, “Can’t never did anything,” captured the determined, encouraging spirit he brought to life.
Born in Tampa, and raised in Lakeland, Florida, he spent much of his career with General Electric in Richmond, Virgina. After retirement, he returned to Florida and settled in Bonita Springs.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Lee; his daughter, Susan (Neville); his son, Jamie (Pamela); his brother, Jack (Janet); his sister-in-law, Pamela; his grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother Joe, and granddaughter Whitney.
A service and celebration of life will be held at a later date. Details will be shared by the family.
