Born on March 28, 1942, in Weymouth, Massachusetts, Don lived a life full of hard work, devotion to family, and kindness that touched all who knew him.
The son of Reginald and Ruth (Gould) Knudsen, Don’s life took him from Massachusetts to New Hampshire, Georgia, and eventually Florida, making lifelong friends along the way. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army, spending time stationed in Germany — where he developed his lifelong love for big machinery.
Over the years, Don held many roles, including time as a firefighter and with Split Ballbearing in NH, but he was especially proud of his work with the Centerville-Osterville-Marstons Mills Water District. His dedication and strong work ethic were evident in everything he did.
Don’s hobbies included woodturning, bowling, golfing, and playing pool. But above all, his greatest joy came from being a husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. He shared 45 loving years with his soul mate, Becky, and for the past 27 years was an extraordinary caregiver and companion to her.
Don is survived by his wife Becky, his daughters Kelly, Karen, Ingrid, Karen and her husband Dave, Lori, Shelley and her husband Jack, and Nikki and her husband Brian, many cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren, his sisters Betsy, Sue, Marge, brother Doug and wife Kim and many nieces and nephews. His family was the pride and joy of his life, and his legacy of love continues through them.
Everyone who knew Don loved him — for his gentle spirit, his ready smile, and his ability to make others feel at ease. His warmth, humor, and kindness will be deeply missed.
The family will be holding private services to honor Don’s life.
A heartfelt thank you to the Heart Institute and Avow Hospice for their compassionate care during Don’s final days.
