Catherine Ann Schmitt was born in St. Joseph, Missouri, and passed away peacefully on March 27, 2026. She gave thanks to God for a full and meaningful life—as a devoted wife and mother, and through her professional careers, all pursued with a deep passion for world travel.
She was adored by her husband, Robert, to whom she was married for 47 years; her son Kyle and his wife (Emily Gray), and grandson, Gray, of Jamestown, Rhode Island; her son Burke and his wife (Lauren Dvorsky), of Naples, Florida; her son Eric of Fort Lauderdale, Florida; and her brother, James Hibler, of Leawood, Kansas.
Catherine was dedicated to her family through unwavering love, compassion, and sacrifice. She lit up every room she entered with her warm smile and positive spirit.
She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Missouri, where she was a proud member of Delta Gamma sorority. She remained socially active, regularly attending and volunteering for her Delta Gamma sorority chapter in Naples, FL.
Professionally, Catherine worked as a TWA Sales Representative in San Francisco, California, where she helped organize one of the first Sea-Air travel programs in partnership with Royal Viking Line and TWA. In recognition of her achievements, she was honored as San Francisco Professional Woman of the Year in 1983 by the National Organization for Women.
Later in her career, Catherine became a realtor, serving clients in Lake Las Vegas in Henderson, Nevada, and with Lutgert Realty after relocating to Naples, Florida in 2004.
Catherine’s legacy lives on through her family, her accomplishments, and the many lives she touched with kindness, grace, and joy.
