Carl was born on May 18, 1944, to Carl S. and Georgia (Marko) Hahn and spent his early years in the rural farming community of Benton County, Indiana. He married his beloved wife, Linda, on May 1, 2003.
Carl is survived by his wife, Linda; his children, Jodi Hahn of Pensacola, Florida, and Kevin Hahn of Cave Creek, Arizona; and his stepdaughter, Amber Bales of Geneva, Illinois, her husband, Grant, and their children, Shae Atkins and Greenlee Bales. He is also survived by his brother, Harold Hahn of rural Boswell, Indiana; his sister, Thea Martin of North Salem, Indiana; his brother, Rick (Sue) Hahn of Cicero, Indiana; and several nieces and nephews.
Carl was known for his kind and generous heart and his willingness to help others. Growing up in a rural farming community gave him plenty of opportunities for adventure and stories to tell. One favorite memory involved an old blue 1955 Chevy convertible that he purchased with his brother Harold. The car had a habit of breaking down, often leaving the brothers walking as much as they were driving!
Another memorable experience came during a sectional high school basketball tournament when a sudden, unexpected blizzard stranded spectators from both teams. Carl found himself spending the night in a gymnasium full of fellow spectators until the storm passed.
After attending Purdue University, Carl moved to the Chicago area to begin his career with FM Global. He enjoyed a rewarding 40-year career there before retiring for the first time. He later worked at Hayes and retired for a second time in 2014.
Following retirement, Carl and Linda spent two years wintering in Naples, Florida, before making it their permanent home in 2014. Carl embraced the Florida lifestyle, enjoying many years of golf, bocce, and pickleball, along with all that Veronawalk had to offer. Some of his favorite times were spent with the many good friends he made there, enjoying dances, concerts, and community gatherings.
Carl and Linda also enjoyed several cruises together after retirement, with their Rhine River cruise holding a special place among his favorites.
Their faith was an important part of their lives, and Carl and Linda attended Capri Christian Church on Marco Island.
Carl will be deeply missed by Linda, his children, his siblings, extended family and all who knew and loved him. His kind heart, generous spirit, and the many memories he shared with family and friends will remain a lasting part of his legacy.
