Obituary of James "Jim" L. Snay
James L. Snay, of West Palm Beach, Florida passed away on March 12, 2023 at the age of 74. James was born on May 10, 1948 in Troy, New York. Jim, (as he was most affectionately known) was a career union truck driver who was known as “Rattlesnake”. He worked for several Trucking companies including Maislin, P.I.E and Roadway of Bartonsville, PA. Jim was most proud of receiving a distinguished award for driving a million miles without one accident or incident. Jim spent his early years in New York until he was transferred to Illinois. Several years later he was once again transferred to Pennsylvania. He resided there for 27 years before retiring to Florida. During his retirement years he enjoyed his weekly motorcycle rides with the “Troy Boys”. Jim will be missed for many reasons but most notably for his sense of humor. He had a way of drawing people in with his warm, loving personality that could turn a casual conversation into a mini comedy show. Even though he may have told a joke many times before he would laugh right along as if it was the first time he was hearing the punchline. Jim was preceded in death by both parents, son James L. Snay II and brothers Paul Snay (Waterford) and Emmett (Chick Snay). James is survived by his wife Betty, daughters: Maria Lawton (Kevin), Cheryl Barber (Richard), Sonya Snay, Kelly Csezmadia (Donald),Colette Armstrong, sons: Gary Armstrong and George Mang (Gina), along with grandchildren, one great grandson, several nieces, a nephew and his loyal dog Abby. The family of James “Jim” Snay would like to thank his friends and neighbors of Thousand Oaks Community for the care and compassion they showed our loved one in his final days. A private celebration will be held at Saint Joseph’s in Troy, New York at a later date. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.nationalcremation.com/location/north-palm-beach for the Snay family.
