Floyd Leland Butcher of Grand Blanc, Michigan passed peacefully after an extended battle with Covid on December 27, 2022, at the age of 87. Floyd was a 32nd degree Mason and lived the values of a Freemason with service to others and to his country. A proud Army veteran, who spent his time helping others through his years of volunteering at Easter Seals, and his extended work as an Advanced Master Gardener achieving over 1,000 volunteer hours.
Floyd was a skilled musician who declined a scholarship to Alma College and instead opted to enlist in the Army Reserves and became an artillery specialist. Floyd then went on and worked as a skilled trades manager at GM for more than 30 years.
Floyd had a life-long passion for learning, and a love for technology. No new technology eluded him, and he was excited to get the newest Tesla software update 2 days before his passing. Floyd had a passion for gardening including becoming a gentleman farmer growing acres of corn, vegetables, and flowers.
Balancing work-life and family to perfection, he was good with his hands as well as his mind, and passed those qualities on to his children.
Floyd is survived by his wife of 60+ years Betty Butcher and his son David Butcher and his wife Laura, his daughter Catherine Fell and her husband Gregory and their daughter Elizabeth.
A memorial service will be held in Florida. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating in Floyd Butcher’s honor to Easterseals.
