I knew Steve in my early 20s back in England- we were both in the local band scene. Steve was a great friend. Happy-go-lucky, he was a practical joker and made us all crack up constantly. When he moved to America, I knew he would do well. When Steve did something, he always put his heart and soul into it, and succeeded. My heart goes out to Meg and the family. Steve will always be with us, in our hearts forever.

Steve was one of the very best,and I am very proud to call him my friend.Heartfelt condolences to Meg and all the Powell family.My prayers are with you.

So sad to hear about the passing of my old friend Steve.Back in the seventies,with the exuberence of youth we had many adventures together(oh to recapture those halcyon days),going to gigs and  having a beer to many on more than one occasion.I for one will miss him dearly but know he is now at peace.

Steve was my friend. His attitude on his worst day was better than mine on my best day. He taught me a lot and he always had time and an open ear.  Steve was very engaging and very generous. He managed one of the worst diagnosis imaginable with grace and dignity. He was strong beyond belief. I wish him peace. He will be missed.

So very sorry to hear of Steve's passing. Though I met him only briefly years ago when visiting at ScubaTech, I feel that I have come to know Steve through my sister, Nancy and, now, this incredible account of his life. What an amazing person! What an amazing life! I hope that I can be just 1/2 the person Steve was in good health and bad. May the knowledge that Steve was loved and respected by the many whose lives he impacted be of comfort to you in your loss. God be with you all.

The highlight of any dives trip l made in Destin was walking into the shop and seeing Smilin' Steve behind the counter. A true gentleman who will be sorely missed in the diving community.

Loved talking old MGs and motorcycles with him.  Steve was always so great to be around.  My wife would come home with wonderful memories every time she went diving with ScubaTech.  You will be missed Steve.

Steve was a man nobody can replace. There was never a time that I could not talk to him.He always told me to reach for the stars. He is in heaven now and I'm sure he is happy now because in heaven there is peace.
