Nancy Weeks Risch, beloved daughter of Joan Webber and Ralph Lang, passed away March 9th. Her 85 adventurous years began in Illinois where she graduated from Evanston Township High School. At Stephens College in Columbia, MO she earned her pilot’s license, and met her lifelong love and husband of 65 years, Ted Risch. Her goal was to become a member of the WAF and fly military aircraft to Europe. She and Ted were married upon his return from the Pacific in 1946.
As a loving mother and homemaker she accompanied Ted to Wilton, CT where she promptly joined the Pakalana Hula Troop and performed in many venues. She and Ted enjoyed dinner and theater in New York City and skiing with their children at Grey Rocks Inn in Ste. Jovit, Canada. Moving to Gulf Breeze in 1968 Nancy became an avid and accomplished tennis player, winning many local tournaments. As a member of Gulf Breeze United Methodist Church she at one time served as President of their UMW and later became a Conference officer. She was a devoted longtime member of the church choir. Following her fun loving nature, she studied tap dancing in later life.
Nancy’s positive and determined spirit was loved by many people. She is survived by her husband, three children, Susan Tocher and Tom Risch of Boulder, CO, Ted Risch of Gulf Breeze, five grand children and two great grandaughters. Services are scheduled at GBUMC on March 14 at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers please send donations to the American Cancer Society.
