Kathleen Marie Bunyan Passmore, 71, of Holley, Florida, was unexpectedly called home to the Lord’s loving arms on April 17, 2026. Born on March 10, 1955, in Okinawa, Japan, Kathleen lived a life defined by her devotion to family, professional dedication, and a deep love for local history and community activism.
Throughout her long and varied career, Kathleen was known for her dedication and skill across several industries. In the media sector, she worked for the USA Today Network as a paper planning specialist, the Tallahassee Democrat as a page planning specialist, and USA Today as an ad trafficker. Her extensive experience also included roles at the Pensacola News Journal and Gannett. Beyond the newsroom, Kathleen served her community as a dispatcher for the Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office. She also brought her talents to marine construction, where she worked as a safety foreman and carpenter.
Kathleen was preceded in death by her parents, John and Ruby Bunyan; her sister, Patricia Burgess; and her brother, Michael Bunyan.
Kathleen is survived by her two brothers: Richard Bunyan, Havana, FL; and John Paul Bunyan, Quincy, FL; sister, Margaret (Uwe) Bauer, Columbia, MD; and her three sons: William Passmore, Milton, FL; Timothy Passmore, Milton, FL; and John (Crystal) Passmore, Columbus, GA.
Kathleen was the proud grandmother of: Stephen (Brandy) Passmore, Abigail Hopkins, Alexander Passmore, Mary Passmore, Sebastian Passmore, James Passmore, Casey Passmore, Lilith Passmore, Naomi (Eli) White, Noah Passmore, and Nicholai Passmore.
She is great-grandmother of: Rose Marie Sellers, Avery Passmore, Alilah Hopkins, Sean Hopkins, London Brake, Baylor Passmore, Romyn Brake, and Alias Passmore.
Beyond her professional life, she was a passionate preservationist. Her family and neighbors will remember her as a significant contributor to the preservation of Holley, Navarre, and Milton community history.
A woman of many creative and inquisitive talents, Kathleen found joy in genealogy, photography, and the unique art of headstone rubbing—hobbies that allowed her to connect with the past while capturing the beauty of the present.
Funeral services will be held at National Cremation and Burial Society, 5641 HWY 90 West, Milton, FL 32583 on May 2, 2026, at 11:00 am. The family will receive friends and the community for a public viewing beginning at 10:00 am.
