James T. Robbins, 78, of Pensacola, FL entered God’s kingdom on Jan 19, 2024. James was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Suzanne; sons, Christopher, John Mark, Michael, and Daniel; 13 grandchildren; and 2 great-grandchildren.
A private memorial service was held at Christian Life Church with family and close friends. In lieu of flowers donations can be sent to Life Options Clinic (https://lifeoptionsclinic.org/).
James served in the US Army and was a proud Vietnam veteran. After returning from his service, James began a long career as a glaser. Although his career focused on installing glass, he became proficient in a wide variety of construction. In particular, he loved any type of woodworking. Even after his retirement, he would spend hours in the garage he had converted into a workshop. He built almost anything, ranging from a custom mobile chicken coop for his son to a handcrafted table that currently sits in his home.
In addition to spending time in his workshop, James loved traveling with Suzanne in his 5th wheel camper. They would spend time visiting family and friends in different parts of the country. Most notably, he would talk fondly of his trip from Florida to Pennsylvania.
Even though James loved traveling and working with his hands, his real passion was serving others. James never met a stranger. He was warm and welcoming to everyone he met. For a couple of years in the late 1970’s, he pastored a small church called New Life. In the following years, he was active in the leadership of a number of churches, most notably Charity Chapel of Pensacola, FL and Christian Life Church of Milton, FL. Up until the time he went to be with his Lord and Savior, he served as a lay pastor at Christian Life where he provided wisdom, guidance, love, and support to countless people.
James’s life was the epitome of the example Jesus provided: devoid of legalism and overflowing with love and acceptance. The many lives he touched are left with a lingering mark that won’t be forgotten. The void he leaves in this world, and in the hearts of those who love him, is incalculable. James, husband, dad, grandpa, bebop, papaw, buddy, friend … you will be missed.
