Helen Chavers Nichols

Helen C. Nichols, age 83 of Pace, passed away Saturday, May 30, 2026. She was born April 10, 1943 in Andalusia, AL. Helen married her husband Benjamin “Pete” Nichols Jr on April 6, 1963. They worked several years at Monsanto before Helen and Pete opened their restaurant, the original, Nichols Seafood Restaurant & Marina in Bagdad, Florida that began in 1972. Helen loved to cook and make sure everyone she cooked for was satisfied and happy. Helen’s hobbies were gardening and fishing. Helen also was a huge dog lover. Her dogs were her babies and she spared no expense to make sure they were taken care of and loved. Helen is preceded in death by her parents Maurice and Fonclee Chavers; her husband Pete Nichols, her son Ben Nichols, her sisters, Caroline Oatman and Maroline Campbell and nephew Mike Campbell. Helen is survived by her nephew Benjamin Campbell and his wife Cathy and aunt Lavonia Fuqua and several cousins. Visitation will be at 10:30 am (family) and 11:00 am (general public) on June 6 2026. Funeral services will follow at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, June 6, 2026 in the National Cremation and Burial Society funeral home. Burial will follow in the Memory Park Cemetery.
