Dolores Odom Pose, 81, passed away peacefully at her home in Milton, Florida on Thursday, January 19th. She was born on February 5th, 1941 in Fairhope, Alabama and was the youngest daughter of the late John Odom and Mary “Mae” Melinda Carpenter Odom. She and her late husband, Percy Emmanuel Pose, shared 51 years of marriage after being married on August 1st, 1959. They moved to the Milton area in 1963 and built their beloved home together from the ground up in 1979. Their home fostered years of cherished memories where they raised their two children and later on, two of their granddaughters that they adopted and raised as their own.
She is preceded in death by her parents, 6 older siblings, her husband, and son John Joseph Pose.
She is survived by her adopted daughters Sarah Pose of Milton, Florida and April Bass of Alabaster, Alabama; biological daughter Donita Marsh; granddaughters Callie Dennison and Spencer Haney; great-grandsons Oliver Peterson, Kieran Bass, and Ronan Bass; older sister Venola Thomaston; and several cousins, nephews, and nieces.
She was a loving and dedicated homemaker, mother, sister, and friend to many. She committed her life to her family, and was the glue that kept everyone together. As a mother, she was kind, caring, and showed true unconditional love to her children. She was a trusted friend to many and brought joy and happiness into the lives of all that knew her. Being a woman of faith, she was a devoted Catholic that attended St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Milton, Florida. She was a member of their Young at Heart group where she grew to form many loving and supportive friendships over the years. She will be deeply missed by many, but her loving memory will be cherished.
A funeral service is scheduled for 10:00 AM on Wednesday, February 15th at the St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church located at 6451 Park Avenue in Milton, Florida. A traditional Catholic Funeral Mass will be held at the church followed by a Committal Service at Memorial Park Cemetery where she will be laid to rest beside her husband and son.
