After High School graduation in Milan TN, 1947, Bill attended Cohen Electrical Institute in Chicago Illinois. The United States Navy was his next destination during the Korean War and 4 years of honorable service, attaining the rank of Electronics Technician 2ND class.
Next he found employment with the IBM Company and while stationed in Asheville, NC he met and married Ms Irene Hodge in 1955. Together they had 4 daughters and twin sons. Mary Lee Maury, Susan Brown (deceased), Rebecca Berntson, Sarah Tilley, James R. Crider, and John R. Crider. Bill and Irene were blessed with 10 grand children and 10 great grand children during their 57 years of marriage.
Retirement after 2 decades with the Western Union Telegraph Company allowed them more time to travel and explore the Natural Parks and scenic places of America. For most of his adulthood Bill was an avid Ham Radio Operator and carried the call sign WA4AAB.
October 27, 2012 left him a widower when his beloved Irene passed to her rest in Zephyrhills, Florida. Bill continued to live in their home of 27 years with his little dog (son) Oscar. But in February 2021 he relocated to Snellville, GA to live with daughter Rebecca and her family and to be close to other members of his family.
Tragically his lengthy history of heart disease over came him and on April 13, 2021 he also passed to his rest. He was a remarkable 91.5 year old gentleman and is greatly missed by his family and friends.
