Way was my best friend. Thats what i called him. He sent  me a msg telling me it was time  to be with God i didnt understand what he meant but i guess that was hin sayong his goodbyes to me. Way  encouraged me to be close to God
My gals MJ an RA are responsible young ladies because of u Waymon. Wil miss our everyday chats. U left a big hole in my heart and wil continue praying for u like u asked me daily if i did include u in my prayers. May ur soul rest in peace

I’m deeply heartbroken by the passing of the man I proudly called Pops. He took me in as his very own child and treated me with a love and care that went far beyond any title. From our days together in South Africa and Botswana, he helped shape me into the person I am today.
Pops was strict, but his strictness came from a place of wanting the best for me. And even with that tough side, he had a way of making me laugh at the moments I least expected. That mix of discipline, humor, and love is something I’ll never forget.
He called me “MJ” to shorten my name, and hearing it from him always made me feel seen, valued, and loved. He wished me the best always, and I know he was truly proud of the person I was becoming.
Rest in peace, Pops. Thank you for loving me as your own, for guiding me, and for believing in me. I’ll carry your love, your lessons, and your memory with me for the rest of my life.

I do not cease to pray for our family at this time.  I'll share a memory.  I was convinced Uncle Waymon did not like me -at all!  I remember one family get-together where the Carrolls had gathered at a friend’s home to watch a movie.  We sat around the family room enjoying the ebb and flow of conversation and smiles when Uncle Waymon suddenly asked a question.  I didn’t read the room and simply responded.  You could have heard a pin drop in the sudden silence.  And then the room erupted in laughter with a chorus of oooooooo’s.  Too late, I realized the question was rhetorical.  And my response had come off as sarcasm (totally unintentional!).  Uncle Waymon’s eyes sliced like lasers as he came back at me, “Oooh-hoooo, we’ve got a smart one here.”  There was more, but I was mortified and couldn’t hear over the laughter.  My apologies were not landing favorably which only made things funnier to the listeners.  He was relentless in his comebacks. I gave up and rode it out.  From that moment on and through the years, I truly believed he greatly disliked me.  Years went by and one day he suddenly started sending little notes periodically, asking after the household and sending bundles of magazines he’d read -with or without notes.  I was just grateful he’d finally forgiven me somewhere along the way!  LOL!
