Roy “Pizza Man” Vance, age 82, of Marietta, Georgia, formerly of Seattle, Washington, passed away on Monday, December 5, 2022.
Roy was born to the late John Berry McCree and the late Margaret Kennedy on November 23, 1940 in Chester, South Carolina. He was one of 11 children.
Roy was funny, unfiltered and enjoyed people watching. He could be found in front of his home in his chair performing his unofficial neighborhood watch duty. Passersby knew him very well and gave him the nickname, “Pops.”
Roy was passionate about his beliefs and was very knowledgeable. He was a history buff especially when it came to black history. He was involved in discovering his family’s genealogy and was incredibly observant.
More than anything, Roy loved his blended family. He was proud of his son, Shaun, and the man who he became; he enjoyed spending time fishing with his youngest, Shannon; and his eldest daughter, Meagan, was his heart & soul. He was a loving husband, a proud padre and grandfather. His memory will continue on through those whose lives he touched.
Roy Vance is preceded in death by his wife of 37 years, Elaine Horn; Siblings Connie McCree, William McCree, Clyde McCree, Joyce Young, Gene Young, and Deloris Caldwell; and parents, John McCree and Margaret Kennedy.
