Robert "Bob" Csaba Banathy, age 78, was born February 19, 1948, in Austria, and passed away on March 11, 2026 at his home surrounded by loved ones. After this introduction, Robert will be remembered as Bob —a gentle, humorous, and patient man whose steady presence meant so much to those who knew him.
Bob devoted approximately 40 years to a career in international logistics with Kintetsu World Express. His work took him across the world, especially throughout Asia, and his travels were so extensive that he went through three passports. He was a highly regarded employee who received many awards over the years in recognition of his achievements and dedication.
Bob was married for 58 years to Bernie Banathy. Together they raised three children: Jennifer Banathy, Alyson (James) Fulton, and Matt (Tania) Banathy. He was a very patient and understanding father who enjoyed attending games and functions to support his children in their extracurricular activities, and he worked hard to provide for his family. He was also the proud grandfather of two grandchildren, Thurston and Heather.
In his personal life, Bob found joy in raising koi fish, listening to music, driving and working on cars—especially his Triumph TR8, and raising Welsh terriers. He was also a Boy Scout, following in the footsteps of his father, who was one of the highest ranked Scouts in the world and helped start the modern Boy Scout program.
Special thanks are extended to Amedisys Hospice for the kindness and compassion shown to Robert and the family.
