Richard was born in New Haven, Connecticut on April 18, 1945, to Harold Rasche and Elsa Rasche, nee Bloomquist. The younger of two sons, he was possessed of a compassion heart, a diligent work ethic, and was steadfast and dedicated in his studies. This eventually led him to medical school in Farmington, Connecticut, where he met his lab partner and future wife, Anne Maurita Murtagh. They married in 1971.
Following residency, the two moved to Pulaski, Tennessee where they practiced medicine together in the community, improving health outcomes for many. They welcomed their only child, Erin Kristin Rasche, in 1987.
After a series of moves, Richard pursued an additional degree in medical informatics. In December 1999, the family settled in Georgia, where Richard pursued a new career in line with his mission to deliver the highest quality of care to and improve outcomes for all medical patients. After retiring from medicine, he applied the same meticulous care to his love of gardening. He could be found walking six miles in the neighborhood every morning.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Robert Harold Rasche. He is survived by his wife, Anne Murtagh Rasche, and daughter, Erin Kristin Rasche along with their three dogs, Tucker, Piper, and Colt. He was expecting his first grandchild in August 2022 and looked forward to teaching them about the joys of Home Depot and hiking in nature.
A memorial service for Richard will be planned to coincide at St. Augustine’s of Canterbury in Morrow, Georgia simultaneously to the baptism of his grandchild at a later date in 2022.
