

Devoted wife, sister, mother, grandmother and friend to many, was known for her positive attitude and steadfast determination. Mary Lou Mullins, 80, of Hoschton, Ga, passed away May 24th, 2025 from an extended battle with cancer.
Born in Pittsburgh, PA in 1944 where she lived until moving to Kenmore, NY with William and Mary Richmeyer at age 10. She graduated from Kenmore West High School in 1962 from which she remained lifelong friends with many of her classmates. She then obtained a diploma in Secretarial Arts from Bryton & Stratton Business Institute and began working at the Cowper Construction Company of Buffalo, NY.
In 1965, Mary Lou met her future devoted husband of 57 years, Richard Mullins. They married on April 3rd, 1968 in Kenmore, NY. She remained close to her three bridesmaids, sister Carol, friend Co and cousin Jan until her passing. Mary Lou and Rich moved to Atlanta, Ga in 1970. While Rich attended Emory Graduate School, Mary Lou worked in the Yerkes Primate Center as a psychobiology secretary. In 1972, they moved to Midland, MI where they had two sons and twin daughters, Scott William (1972), Mary Elizabeth & Mary Mulvina (1974; dec.) and Christopher Michael (1976). The family moved to Connecticut in 1980 where third son, David Geoffrey (1981) was born. Mary Lou worked for the Madison Public Schools in the central office and later for the law firm of Burdick and Piambino. After raising 3 sons in Connecticut, Mary Lou and Rich moved to Chattanooga, TN before moving full time to Cape Coral, FL in 2002. They spent 22 years in Cape Coral and Fort Myers before moving back to the Atlanta area in August of 2024.
Throughout all of these moves, Mary Lou kept busy volunteering with many organizations, including La Leche League (Michigan/Connecticut), Cheshire Academy Parent Association (Connecticut), multiple Landings committees, Lee County Parks & Recreations and organized the Kenmore West Reunions (Florida). Mary Lou was a lifelong, avid bowler and enjoyed group games with friends like Bunco and Mahjong. Rich and Mary Lou enjoyed boating, both sail and power, in Michigan, Connecticut and Florida.
Mary Lou loved her family and friends closely. She is survived by her husband Richard, sister Carol (Chuck) Hodges; sons Scott (Jennifer) Mullins, Christopher (Kathryn) Mullins and David (Fauziah) Mullins; grandchildren Lauren, Sarah, Jack, Bria and Tom. She has been preceded in death by twin daughters Mary Elizabeth and Mary Mulvina and parents William (Bill) and Mary Richmeyer.
Mary Lou will be remembered for her ability to make friends wherever she went and her willingness to jump in and help. She proved her positive attitude and ‘bring it on’ determination inspired and impressed all she met while giving cancer a tremendous 7-year battle. We will miss Mary Lou every day and her memory will live on in the hearts of all those who loved her.
The Lord is close to the brokenhearted; he rescues those whose spirits are crushed. (Ps 34:18).
A Celebration of Life is planned for 2pm on August 2nd at the Hamilton Mill United Methodist Church in Dacula, Ga. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating in her honor to the National Breast Cancer Foundation.
