Mary Joan (Sanders) Garrod

Mary Joan Garrod, age 92, of Madison, GA, formerly of Sun City Center, FL, passed away on Thursday, December 1, 2022. Mary was born October 31, 1930 in Chatham Ontario, Canada and had attended The Pines School. She was married to Bob Garrod on September 1, 1951. The couple had three children together: Geoff, Jill and Barbara. Mary relocated to Miami, FL in 1960 followed by Conyers, GA in 1979, Sun City Center, FL in 2000, & settled in Madison, GA in 2022. Mary's multifaceted career includes having worked at Toronto Dominion Bank (5 years), Rockdale Preschool Academy (10 years), & Grace Covenant Presbyterian Church Preschool (10 years). Mary was very active in the various churches she attended: Pinelands Presbyterian Church, Covenant Presbyterian Church, & St. Andrew Presbyterian Church. Mary found joy in entertaining but, most of all, she loved spending time with her family - enjoying her children, grandchildren & great-grandchildren. Mary is preceded by her parents, Frederick and Lottie Pearl Sanders; sister, Barbara Sanders Manninger; and brother, Fred Sanders. Mary's memory will be cherished by her husband of 71 years, Robert "Bob" Garrod; children, Geoffrey Garrod (Bette) of Madison, GA, Jill Garrod Tasker (Edward) of Carrollton, OH, & Barbara Garrod Kramer (Michael) of Stuart, FL; grandchildren, Courtney Greenleaf (Chris) of Conroe, TX, Katie Sands (Jim) of Homestead, FL, Christopher Kramer (Kimberly) of Palm City, FL, Kristen Parzych (Tyler) of Monticello, GA; 4 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held in the near future (date and time will be provided upon confirmation) at St. Andrew Presbyterian Church, 1239 W Del Webb Boulevard, Sun City Center, FL 33573.
