Margaret “Bonnie” Hopkinson-Johnson age 82 of Peachtree Corners, Georgia, formerly of Bradenton, Florida passed away quietly on Sunday June 4, 2023. Bonnie was born in Binghamton, New York to the late Stanley Hopkinson and Helen Hopkinson. She moved as a child to Philadelphia and subsequently to Darby, Pennsylvania.
She graduated from West Chester State Teacher’s College and earned a master’s degree from Boston College. She taught at Darby High School for several years and then was recruited by the U.S. Department of Defense. There, she had a distinguished career for 40 years: first as an elementary school teacher for the children of U.S. Servicemen stationed overseas and then as a supervisor of data management for her department. She served in various locations in Germany and finally in Seoul, Korea and traveled extensively around the globe.
Her interests were Bridge and Quilting. She produced a number of remarkable and elegant quilts.
Bonnie is preceded in death by her parents, Stanley Hopkinson and Helen Bussa Hopkinson, and her spouse, Harry Johnson. She is survived by her brother, Peter Hopkinson, who resides on Sandy Springs, Georgia.
