Kenneth “Kenny/Ken” Lee Rollins, aged 93, of Rankin, Illinois, to Ralph Rollins and Gladys (Kissack) Rollins, passed away peacefully after a long and full life. Known for his steady presence and straightforward nature, Kenny was a devoted husband, father, partner, brother, grandfather and great-grandfather. He enjoyed collecting bears throughout his travels, loved to dance, and enjoyed the simple joys of everyday life.
Kenny graduated from Milford High School in 1951 and proudly served his country in the United States Army as a Corporal in the 87th Chemical Corps. His commitment to service continued throughout his life as a proud and active member of the American Legion Post 23 in Watseka, Illinois, where he maintained over 70 years of membership.
In 1958, Ken married Nina (Leonard) Rollins (1935–2006), and together they built a life rooted in family and familiarity. He is survived by his sons Brad (Kami), Victor, and Doug (Rachelle), eight grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. He’s also survived by his brothers Don Rollins, Bob Rollins, and David Rollins, and his sister Carol McNeal. He was predeceased by his other brother, Warren “Shorty” Rollins.
Kenny was a longtime member of the First Christian Church in Watseka, Illinois; he appreciated tradition, community, and the connections that shaped his life.
After retiring, Kenny moved to North Fort Myers, Florida, where he spent more than 20 years enjoying the warm weather and developing close friendships that became an important and meaningful part of his daily life.
Since Nina’s passing, Kenny was fortunate to find two new dancing partners that were very special to him. Jenette Cronkhite (1932-2021), of Battle Creek, Michigan, and Tricia Garrison from Alpharetta, GA, also a fellow Towne Club at Windermere resident.
Memorial services will be held in Watseka IL at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the United Kidney Foundation (https://www.unitedkidney.org/donate) in Ken’s honor.
