Geoffrey “Geoff” Foster Decker, 77, of North Palm Beach, Florida, passed away on March 20, 2026. Born September 6, 1948, in New York, Geoff lived a life marked by formal devotion to duty and a loving, funny, and generous spirit that endeared him to all who knew him.
Born in Bronxville, NY, Geoff’s family relocated to Singer Island in Palm Beach when he was 11 years old. His childhood home still exists today. He graduated from Mercersburg Academy, a private all-boys school, and later attended Duke University, where he participated in ROTC with the Navy.
Geoff enlisted as a US Navy Officer and served as a Bombardier Navigator on the A-6 Intruder, flying off the Carrier: Independence. He retired as a Commander from the US Navy, closing a distinguished chapter of service defined by commitment and professionalism. Following his time in the Navy, Geoff worked with a law firm as their office manager, serving in that role for 10 years.
Geoff was married to his first wife, Diane McFarland Decker, and later to his wife, Melanie Martin Decker. Through this marriage, the family grew to include his three stepchildren and their extended family.
In his personal life, Geoff enjoyed cruising—practically living on cruises—along with movies, shopping, and tennis. He was a member of the Serendipity Singles Club.
Special thanks are extended to his caretaker, Catresa “Cat” Jones, for the kindness and compassion she provided daily to Geoff. The family also offers heartfelt appreciation to all the staff of Arbor Terrace Memory Care for the care they provided him until his passing.
Geoff was preceded in death by his first wife, Diane McFarland Decker; his parents, Richard Ellsworth Decker and Gladys Foster Decker; and his sister, Barbara and husband John Doran.
He is survived by his wife, Melanie Martin Decker; stepdaughters, Mary Beth McCoy (Bob) and Catherine Demyanek (Mark); stepson, Charles “Andy” Dixon Jr. (Monica); father in law, Bob McFarland; 8 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
A private Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, May 16, 2026. In Geoff’s honor, please consider a Royal Caribbean Cruise to celebrate the good life!
