Emily Gay Carrillo

Emily Gay Carrillo was born on March 30, 1951, in Chickamauga, TN, and passed away on September 1, 2026, at the age of 75. One of six children, she grew up in Carroll County, GA, and attended Douglas County High School.

Throughout her working life, Gay contributed steadily and faithfully in roles at Martin's, UPS, and in various warehouses and factories—work that reflected both perseverance and a quiet bravery in meeting life as it came, day after day.

Gay was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Carrillo. She is survived by three sons, Scott, Eddie, and Billy; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Diane, Carol, and Marcel. In the steadfast love she gave her family, and in the strength with which she carried her responsibilities, her presence will be remembered with deep respect.

Those who knew Gay will also remember the warmth she brought to everyday life—especially at cook outs, bbqs, and family gatherings where food and togetherness mattered. She had a playful streak and could be counted on to pull pranks on others, a lightness that often arrived just when it was needed. An avid animal lover, she found comfort in their companionship, and she also valued the peace she found in solicey. She enjoyed a cigarette now and again.

Gay’s life was marked by love—freely given, firmly held—and by courage that did not require attention to be real. She will be missed, and her memory will remain close to those who loved her.
