Born on January 26, 1942, in Rochester, New York, Donna was the daughter of the late Ethel Lewis and Donald Herington. She graduated from Benjamin Franklin High School in Rochester and later earned a degree in Occupational Therapy from Keuka College.
Donna’s happiest memories began early, spending childhood summers with her family on Round Island in the St. Lawrence River. She raised her boys in Ontario, New York and spent many wonderful summers at Keuka Lake & Sodus Bay before building a place back on Round Island—a spot that continued to bring her joy for many years. After retirement, Donna enjoyed life in Florida and then Georgia.
Donna will be remembered for her kind heart, creative spirit, and sense of humor. She was a talented painter and quilter who loved crafting of all kinds. She was also an avid reader and gardener. Donna loved music and dancing, and her playful side showed through her well-known collections of funny hats and slippers. She always joined in on her boys’ and brothers’ antics and was a good sport —sometimes even leading the fun herself. Family gatherings were her favorite, especially Thanksgiving, when everyone was together.
Donna’s warmth, laughter, and loving nature will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-laws: Jeff (Eileen), Kevin (Kim), Scot (Louise), and Rick (Laurie); cherished grandchildren Claire (John), Miranda, Maggie, Kendra, Hunter, Lea, Sky, Olivia, and Alec; and great-granddaughter Callie. She also leaves behind her siblings Karen (Bruce) Lippa, Leigh (Anita) Herington, Mark (Sally) Herington, and Bob (Jane) Herington, along with many beloved nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
