Davy was born in Atlanta in 1946 to Winnie and Dave Crockett. He attended grade and high schools in Arlington Heights, Illinois, then received a B.A. in 1968 from Culver-Stockton College. After two years in the army—including a year in Vietnam where he earned bronze stars for valor—Davy married Karin Hogan and raised two children.
Davy’s career was spent mostly in furniture manufacturing where he excelled in creative merchandising for Lane, Leggett and Platt, LazyBoy and Southern Motion. His innovative furniture designs were copied the world over. He was also an avid golfer.
Davy is survived by his wife Martha; two children: Sarah Vinson and Matt Crockett; two grandchildren: Carly and Reid Vinson; and sister Kitty.
