

The family of Barbara Silverman is deeply saddened to announce her passing on March 18,2026 in Smyrna, GA. She was 79 years old. Born on July 31,1946 in Chicago, Illinois, where she spent her childhood and adolescent years. Barbara graduated from Senn High School in Chicago and furthered her education at Mayfair Junior College. She married Samuel in June 1966, and moved with him during his four years of service in the Navy. In 1977 they settled in Smyrna, where they remained.
Professionally, she was meticulous and kind, working as a teacher's aide and later as a bookkeeper, roles where she was greatly respected and loved. In her personal life, Barbara was a loving wife to Samuel Silverman to whom she was married for nearly 60 years. She was a devoted mother to Alan and Rebecca Silverman and a cherished grandmother and great-grandmother to many. Her family was her world and she is lovingly remembered for her nurturing and supporting presence. She had a quick wit and dry sense of humor, which she passed on to her children and grandchildren, alongside her love of reading and Disney – particularly Snow White and the seven dwarfs, particularly Grumpy.
She is survived by her husband, Samuel; children, Alan and Rebecca Silverman; sisters Sheila Cutler, and Cheryl Stern; grandchildren, Joshua Silverman, Tyler Poole, Catherine Silverman, Andrew Silverman, Phillip Silverman, and Brandy Poole; great-grandchildren, Lucas Poole, Isabelle Wilks, Leon Silverman, Bentley Poole, and Emilia Silverman. Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, Maurice and Ann Levy. Barbara's life was marked by her unwavering dedication to her family and her gentle spirit. In keeping with her wishes, no services will be held.
A memorial gathering will be held for family and friends on Thursday, March 26, 2026 from 2:00 to 5:00 PM at Brawner Hall, 3180 Atlanta Road, Smyrna, GA 30080 in Studio A.
