Michael “Mike” Thomas Miller (71) was born on October 3, 1952 and passed away on June 6, 2024 in Houston, TX from a massive stroke and pancreatic cancer. He had only learned of his cancer diagnosis shortly before his stroke.
Mike was born to the late Earl Thomas “Tom” Miller and Dolores Marie (Lamphere) Miller in Valparaiso, IN. The Millers moved to San Diego in 1958 and Mike graduated from Kearny High School in 1973. Mike was a proud retired Sheriff of San Diego County and was preparing to retire as a mortgage broker in Houston, TX. He had an entrepreneurial spirit that saw him pursuing opportunities from a custom cabinet business, to managing a recreational resort, co-owning an import boutique of clothing and décor, to working with specially trained dogs, among many others. He was passionate, hardworking and did it all with a smile and laugh along the way. He was very social, enjoyed playing racquetball, traveling with friends and family, but his happiest was a mimosa in hand on the beach in Mexico.
Mike was the oldest of 7 children: Debra Tooze (Ron), Kim Palmer (Larry), Lori Sanchez, Daniel Miller, the late Timothy Miller (Lisa), and Thomas Miller. He was also the fun loving, prankster uncle to many nieces and nephews. He is survived by his former wife, Nancy Larson, and his many wonderful and loyal friends.
A Celebration of Life is planned for Houston and San Diego. For more information, please contact [email protected].
