It is with a heavy heart that I share the news that my dear mother, Martha, passed away peacefully on the morning of Saturday, June 6, 2026, at about 11:30 AM. After she declined breakfast, her caregivers gently let me know that her time was near. I arrived shortly after and found her completely at peace in her room.
On that morning, Martha transcended this world for a seat at our Lord’s heavenly table. She leaves behind the murky waters of dementia and is now free to move on and rejoice in the company of her heavenly Father and her loved ones already departed—joining Pop-Pop (Herb/Pierce) and my sister, Sally, in the next life. I am incredibly thankful that she remembered me on her own just last week, giving us one final, precious spark of connection.
Mom lived a remarkably full life, reaching 95 years old this coming December. She was happily married for 67 years until Pierce passed away in 2020. Decades ago, she showed immense courage by leaving her home and loved ones to travel to a strange and distant land, placing her complete trust in my dad, who promised to keep, love, and honor her. She will always be remembered for that courage to begin a new life in this country, and for the love she shared so selflessly with her family and friends.
She raised Sally and me to honor our family, to respect others, to value education, and to strive to be all that we could possibly be. In 2016, we relocated Mom and Dad from Eustis, Florida , to Texas to be close to me and our family. Through the loss of my father and her own gradual decline, she showed incredible strength. Even as her world grew quieter, she remained surrounded by the deep love, support, and daily care of her family and granddaughters.
Any success we have had in life is a direct reflection of her, and we are so thankful to have had such an incredible mom. Please join us in celebrating her extraordinary life, her beautiful spirit, and her boundless love.
Rest in Peace, Mom. You're the best!
