Leroy E. Harborth, age 91 of Houston, Texas passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 26, 2026 at his home with family by his side. Leroy was born August 20, 1934 in Guadalupe County to Hilda (Grimm) and Eddie Harborth.
He is preceded in death by his parents and brothers Henry, Frank, and Robert.
Survivors include his loving wife of 69 years, Bernice Harborth; children, Jerry (Sabrina) Harborth, and Renee Harborth; grandchildren, Melanie (Kristen) Gravatt and Shelly Buzek; great-grandchildren, Reagan Buzek, Chase (Emma) Gravatt, Connor Gravatt and Carlee Gravatt; brother Melvin (Betty) Harborth; an assortment of wonderful nieces and nephews as well as other loving family members and friends.
Leroy met Bernice when they were 6 years old and attending Navarro elementary. That began a friendship and love that would bind them together for over 85 years. After he retired from Dr Pepper in 1999 they travelled often and, when all was said and done, they had set foot in all 50 states. Leroy and Bernice did everything together EXCEPT… go deer hunting. That time was reserved for his brothers and those lucky enough to be invited. Leroy loved the outdoors, whether hunting, fishing, or just enjoying a day on the patio cooking wings. He was quite an inventor and an expert at fixing things. His ideas almost always worked, even if the craftsmanship was original, to say the least. If you were ever his neighbor, you probably knew Leroy. He made a point to introduce himself to anyone who was outside. Leroy will be remembered as a kind and gentle man who had difficulty saying “no” to anyone (except his children, lovingly of course). He was a wonderful husband and father that will be greatly missed.
