He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and friends, all of whom he loved dearly and who will miss him more than words can say.
Kevin, born on November 18, 1961, grew up in the Columbus, Ohio area alongside his sisters who he always made sure to tease. As an adult, he enlisted in the United States Army, where he was stationed in several states and served in Operation Desert Storm. Ultimately, he moved to Texas, and he made it his forever home. He worked for many years at Stewart & Stevenson before moving to Toyota Lift of Houston, where he ultimately retired. Along the way he built not just a career, but lasting friendships and a reputation for being dependable, hardworking, and always ready with a smart remark or a joke when it was needed most.
Outside of work, Kevin was in his element when he was hunting or in the shop woodworking. He was a big kid at heart—funny, stubborn in the most endearing way, and always tinkering with something. If it could be fixed, customized, or “made better,” Kevin was going to give it a shot. He loved sharing his hobbies with those around him, turning quiet days into adventures and everyday moments into memories.
Kevin’s family takes comfort in knowing that his stories, his laugh, and his “big kid” spirit will live on in the people who loved him most.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you donate to the children’s cancer charity of your choice.
A service to celebrate Kevin’s life will be held at the Houston National Cemetery (10410 Veterans Memorial Dr, Houston, TX 77038) on April 10, at 11:30 AM. Those wishing to attend the service should arrive no later than 11:00 am.
