John was born September 19, 1982, in Pasadena, Texas, to John Garey and Darlene Doherty. He grew up in Deer Park and graduated from Deer Park High School in 2001 and earned his associate’s degree from San Jacinto College in 2004. John achieved his black belt in Hapkido and Tang Soo Do at 14, was a competitive swimmer, and loved sports and the outdoors. His smile lit up a room and one of his favorite activities was cooking for his friends and family.
John never shied away from hard work. He started in the warehouse at Powell Industries and worked his way up into document and quality control. His most recent role was with Wyman Gordon, where he looked forward to growing his career. He was efficient, straightforward, and hard-working – traits that served him well both at work and home.
Kasey was born April 6, 1982, in Pasadena, Texas, to Bill and Kathy Nasse. She grew up in Pasadena and graduated from Sam Rayburn High School in 2000 and earned her bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education in 2005 and master’s degree in Curriculum, Instruction and Technology in 2007 from Louisiana Tech University. Kasey was pure joy with a delightful sense of humor. No matter where she went or who she was with, you knew there would be laughter. Sports, band, color guard, and church youth group filled her childhood days, while hanging out with her friends and Kappa Delta sisters rounded out her college experience.
Kasey accepted a position at Lawhon Elementary in Pearland ISD in 2007 and planted her roots. Over the past 14 years, she taught second and third grades, served as team leader, and impacted hundreds of students with her loving but firm approach.
John and Kasey met in 2012 and they married August 2, 2014. They were simply better together. Their lives were dedicated to family and loving and raising their children well.
They are survived by their son Jaxon Larcom Doherty, 5, and daughter Kamryn Marie Doherty, 1.
