Janelle Kay Wilder, 77, passed away on Monday, September 15th, 2025 in Houston, TX. She was born September 14th, 1948 in La Mesa, New Mexico to William Chester Randle and Hazel M. Randle. Janelle married the love of her life, Edward Wilder, in New Mexico on February 14, 1969.
In her younger years, Janelle was an accomplished horseback rider, excelling in barrel racing and trail riding. Janelle spent her youth enjoying life on the family farm. After her marriage to Edward, the two began their adventures together by setting off to Panama, following Edward's Army career. The couple settled in Katy, Texas.
In their travels, Janelle would discover her love of teaching and become one of the first Dyslexia specialists in Katy ISD. She focused her extensive career on teaching the younger generations through patience, perseverance, and drive to see her students succeed.
After years of roping in her two rambunctious boys and enjoying a fulfilling career, Janelle savored retirement with Edward, the two of them traveling around the world again. From Hawaii to Panama, Florida to New Mexico. Her and Ed enjoyed attending car shows, golfing (getting 1 hole in 1 at the age of 61) and many stops for Popeye's chicken sandwiches along the way.
Janelle was strong yet humble. A true teacher of life, love, and all that truly mattered. She led by example, offering a helping hand to anyone in need. Her legacy lives on in the hearts of all who knew her, and she will be deeply missed by those whose lives she touched with her wisdom, kindness, and unwavering support.
Janelle is survived by her two sons, Wesley Wilder of Houston, TX and Jason Wilder of Willis, TX; a brother, William 'Bill' Randle of New Mexico, and a sister, Lea Wagner of New Mexico. Other survivors include three grandchildren; Jake and Graham Wilder, sons of Wesley and Mandi Wilder; Skylla Wilder, daughter of Jason and Jamie Wilder. Janelle is further survived by all of her beloved nieces and nephews in her extensive family.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Edward Mark Wilder, and every one of her beloved animals, particularly Sweetpea.
As of now there's no date for a ceremony.
