Elinor Josephine Floyd

Elinor was born August 6, 1936, in Marion, OH to Leonard and Lucille Fauver. She had four siblings: Ronald, Wesley, Lowell, and Roseanne.

Elinor and her husband John were high school sweethearts. Elinor was Homecoming Queen and John was the captain of the football team for North High School in Columbus, OH. Both went on to attend Ohio State University and were married on Sept 23, 1956.

Elinor was a devoted wife and mother to her four children (and spouses): Michael, Tod (Sudee), David (Gwen Mahoney), and Erin (Clint Adamkavicius). She had eight grandchildren (Hannah, Ben, Jordan, Lacee, Calli, Ian, Olivia, Sam) and one great-grandchild (Ayden).

John’s career as a petroleum engineer and energy industry executive involved multiple relocations. They resided in California, New Jersey, Louisiana and Oklahoma before settling in Evergreen, CO in 1974. In 1986, they moved to Houston for ten years, then back to Morrison, CO for a time before settling into retirement in Fredericksburg, TX where they remained for 20 years. Several years ago, they moved to Bryan, TX to be close to family.

Elinor made countless friends along the way and easily called every place a home. She was always loyal, supportive, loving and kind. A lifelong learner, Elinor pursued continued coursework in education and psychology over the years. She was a powerful soprano and a welcome talent in many church choirs. She was a self-taught oil and acrylic artist. Elinor also delved into the challenging media of gourd art. Her exquisite works involved both intricate carving and painting and truly showcased her talent as an artist.

Something Elinor often said was that it’s never too late to learn something new. You never know what you can do until you give it try. Her beautiful life exemplified this belief, and she will forever inspire those who knew her.
