Christopher Lynn Weaver, “Chris”, aged 62, passed peacefully at his home in the company of his loved ones, in Katy, Texas on Tuesday, November 30, 2021 after a long and courageous battle with Early Onset Alzheimer’s.
Chris was born May 14, 1959, in Andrews, Texas to Joe and Doris Weaver and was the third of four children. Chris’ family moved from Andrews, Texas, throughout Texas, to New Orleans, Louisiana and then to Houston, Texas, where Chris graduated from Stratford High School. It was there that he met his soul mate Ruth Holstead (Boren) and his close group of lifelong friends. In college, Chris was a member of the Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity. After obtaining a Bachelor’s Degree from Texas A&M University in 1981, he went to work for Brown Oil Tools and continued on to have a successful career in Oil & Gas; holding multiple design patents. This career eventually took him overseas for many years, but he always called Texas his home.
Chris was a dedicated father, devout Christian, a proud American and a true Texan. From a very early age Chris developed a love and appreciation for the outdoors that he passed on to his children. His love of the outdoors was only surpassed by his love of books and music of all kinds, particularly when paired with a good cigar. In his opinion, the best medicine was always laughter, and laughter was never far from his heart. His wonderful sense of humor and quick wit brought laughter to many. Chris was always the first to offer a word of encouragement accompanied by a heartfelt smile. For all these reasons and more, he will be greatly missed, but never forgotten.
Chris is survived by his spouse and love of his life, Ruth Holstead Boren, his children, Matthew Weaver and his spouse Maria of Katy, Texas, Kelly Weaver of Royal Palm Beach, Florida, and stepsons Nathaniel Brown of West Palm Beach, Florida, and Johnnie Boren of Katy, Texas. He is also survived by his brother Phil Weaver and his spouse Kasey of Midland, Texas, and his sister, Jana Lewallen and her spouse Joey of Dallas, Texas, as well as Aunt Charlotte Williams, Uncle Ronnie Mason and spouse Jan, nieces, nephews, cousins, and great nieces and nephews, all of whom he dearly loved.
Chris was preceded in death by his grandparents, Wilbert “Hall” Weaver and Evelyn Weaver, Elmer Edward Mason and Naomi Mason, his parents, Joe Tom Weaver and Doris Mason Weaver, as well as his brother Joe Michael Weaver.
A private family service will be held in the spring in the Colorado Mountains, which Chris so loved. Those wishing to make donations, can do so to the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America or the Alzheimer’s Association of Houston & Southeast Texas.
