Buck Lamar Blakely, age 82, of Conroe, Texas, passed away on Monday, July 13, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family. Buck was born in Orange, Texas, to Clyde C. Blakely and Josephine Hartgrove, and grew up in Seagraves, Texas, where he developed the small‑town values of hard work, loyalty, and perseverance that would mark his life. After graduating from Seagraves High School, Buck attended McMurry College, proudly playing football and forging friendships and memories that he cherished for decades.
In 1967, Buck fell in love with Mary Margaret Blakely “Margie,” the devoted wife, mother, and granny who became his partner in every sense of the word. Together they enjoyed 56 years of wonderful experiences, raising their family and sharing life’s joys and burdens side by side.
Alongside Buck’s 40-plus years in the construction industry, he possessed a remarkable gift of craftsmanship and could build anything with wood, especially beautiful, custom cabinets. Friends and family knew that if something needed to be built, fixed, or improved, Buck could figure out a way to make it happen.
Faith and family were important to Buck. Alongside Margie, he was an active supporter of their church family at Sugar Creek Baptist Church and Refuge Church for more than forty years, investing his time, talents, and resources in the life of the congregations they loved. He enjoyed sharing life and laughing with the many friends he made over the years, and he possessed a genuine love for others that was evident to everyone who spent time with him. Buck will be deeply missed by his family and friends, but his influence will continue through the lives he helped shape.
Buck was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Margie; his parents, Clyde C. Blakely and Josephine Hartgrove; as well as his Brother Jerry Blakely. He is survived by his Brother Pat Blakely (wife Chrissy), daughter Joell Shearer (husband Phil), daughter Stacy Morris (husband Steve), and son Steven (wife Ashley); six grandchildren: Mady (husband Marshall), Cally (wife Dominque), Lance (wife Juliana), Tony, Kari, and Elizabeth; one step-grandchild: Brandon, and great‑granddaughters Mary‑Claire and Ayda.
Memorial and Celebration of life will be at Refuge Church in Conroe, TX on Saturday, July 25th at 2:00 pm.
