To the Boyd family - you are in my daily thoughts and prayers. Brooks was the ultimate community banker and I enjoyed learning from him as I directly worked for him for over 8 years. I use the skills he taught me to appreciate the customer and  for a bank to be a community center where customers enjoy being a part of the bank family. I enjoyed our Christmas parties out at their farm and I have beautiful oak trees in our front yard from the Brooks tree farm . Again , thank you Brooks for being a mentor, a friend and an advisor. Brooks hired my in 1997 to be a Lending Assistant at Sterling Bank's Westheimer office.  He was kind, smart, direct and fair.  I did work for him when he was between assistants and was able to become acquainted with his wife, Penny, who was a character!  I think back fondly on my memories of Brooks, and wish him Godspeed on his journey home.  My sympathy to his family and friends.

Sorry to hear of Brooks passing and my condolences to Lynn, Brooks Jr. and Stephen.

Brooks ("Mr. Boyd") hired me for my first (Bank Texas Westheimer) and second (Great Western Bank/Sterling Bank) banking jobs.  I had the pleasure of working with Brooks for 15 years and took what I learned from him and have had a wonderful 40 years in banking in Houston.  

I especially enjoyed the early days of Great Western Bank, when there were only 7 employees.  Brooks was loved by his customers and he banked some of Houston's more well-known businesses from the 70's and 80's.
