GODBEE, Jeffrey Roger – A Memorial Service for Jeffrey Roger Godbee, 54, will be held on Saturday, February 27, 2021 @ 11am at Normandy Park Baptist Church in Jacksonville, FL. Jeff was diagnosed with a rare and very aggressive type of cancer in November 2020. For two and half months he fought a brave battle until the Lord called him home on Monday, February 8, 2021. He is now in his perfect body and in a perfect place in heaven. Jeff was born in Savannah, GA and raised in Jacksonville, FL. He graduated from Edward H White Sr High School in 1984 and worked in Auto Parts with his dad at Patten Distributors for many years. He then owned his own Auto Parts store in Brunswick, GA. After a few years Jeff decided it was time for a change and began driving semi-trucks over the road eventually opening his own business of Godbee Trucking. Jeff also had a very strong love of racing. He began his racing career in go-karts at the age of 10 racing his way up to the big dirt track in the Open Wheel Modified division at the age of 19 then on to the Late Model dirt series. Jeff was a force to be reckoned with on the track earning nicknames such as “The Dominator” and “The Bullet” in 1999 when he won the Nascar Winston Cup Late Model Dirt Series Championship. He was a great competitor but most of all he was a great friend to so many. Jeff is survived by his wife and best friend of 34 years Penny Godbee, the lights of his life his son Jeffrey Godbee (Hannah), and daughter Ashton (Kevin) Hooper. He is also survived by his father and bonus mom, Roger and Sandi Godbee, Mother, Cynthia “Chris” Santos, sisters Melissa Godbee (Kerri), Kathy (Robert) Dawkins, Cristina (Richard) Francis, Ashley Godbee, Sister-in-laws Cheryl (Charles) Soltis, Morgan Averill and Meagan (Peter) Morales, Brother-in-law Tim (Cameron) Averill and his Brother and Best Friend of 42 years Keith (Joni) Day. Of course we cannot forget his loyal sidekick and fur baby, Dixie. He has countless aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. A private graveside service will be held for family members only at a later date. In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made in Jeffs memory to either Community Hospice www.communityhospice.com/give or the Cholangiocarcinoma Foundation @ cholangiocarcinoma.org. One final note, Jeff was a big advocate for people wearing masks due to COVID especially after we had to deal with the illness ourselves. He asked me to make sure everyone wore their mask at his memorial because he did not want anyone getting sick while celebrating his home going
