
Jim Robinson proudly served his country first as an Army Ranger, and then in the United States Navy where he served as a Navy Seal and finished his military career as a Petty Officer Second Class. He served in both the Korean and Vietnam wars.
Following his retirement from the Navy, he worked as an electronics technician for RCA managing a team of electronics technician and finished his work career at General Electric where he managed and trained electronic technicians.
He was an avid learner and had many hobbies. He was a master gardener and also had a lifelong love of stamp collecting which culminated in an extensive stamp collection. He was a “rock hound” and enjoyed many trips with his wife, Awilda, and the Jacksonville Gem and Mineral Society where he served as National President as well serving as President of the Southeast Federation of Mineral Societies.
Survivors include his children Wayne Robinson (son), Steve Robinson (son) Sharon Robinson Durden (daughter), Mark Durden (son-in-law), Allen Robinson (grandson)
Lauren Robinson (granddaughter in law), Alexandrea Durden (granddaughter), Danielle Durden (granddaughter), Christine Tomlinson (sister), Janice Hite (sister), Mabel Ball (sister), Kathy Fellers (sister), Linda Hicks (sister), Lewis Mack Robinson (brother)
He was predeceased in death by his wife Awilda Polanco Robinson.
A Graveside service will be held on Monday, June 24, 2024 at 11:00am at Jacksonville National Cemetery, 4083 Lannie Road, Jacksonville, FL 32218.
