James W. Myers Sr was a caring husband, dad, stepfather, pops, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, and friend. He went to be with our Lord May 19, 2023, at the age of 77. He was born September 13, 1945, in New Haven, Connecticut.
He was a quick-witted jokester who never met a stranger, and never forgot a name or address. He had a love/hate relationship with his Florida Gators and Jacksonville Jaguars. He also loved to sing karaoke, classic cars, crossword puzzles, hummingbirds, Ocean East Resort Club, draft, draw, and to build things from scrap. In his younger years, he also loved square dancing and climbing lighthouses. He served in the United States Navy, was a veteran of the Vietnam War, and a member of the Tonkin Gulf Yacht Club. He was extremely proud of his service to his country and wore it with pride. He was a sweet, non-confrontational soul who just wanted everyone to get along. He retired from the U.S. Postal Service in 2014 with 27 years of service.
He was preceded in death by his father Francis K. Myers, mother Margaret M. Myers, nee Clark, and stepmother Marjorie J. Myers. He is survived by his wife Evelyn ‘Kathy’ Myers, sister Marilyn M. Lehman, stepbrother Michael W. Thomas, his three children Michael R. Myers, Michael ‘Scott’ Murray (Shelly), James W. Myers Jr (Susan), his two stepchildren Rodney M. Davis (Heather), Kathryn ‘Katt’ Anderson (Howard), his six grandchildren, Michael Lee Myers, Camryn A. Brannan (Kaisun), Carson S. Murray, Mackenzie R. Davis, Kallie M. Davis, Julianne K. Davis, his great granddaughter Woods Lily Brannan, former wife Yvonne M. Burleson, his two grand dogs Coco and Mo, many friends and loved ones.
