Eunice Leslie Horton

Born on July 9, 1941, in Lax, Georgia to the late Henry Leslie Sr. & Jewel Jones Leslie, Eunice lived a life defined by love, kindness, strength and dedication to family. Throughout the years, she touched countless lives through generosity, compassion and a warm spirit that made everyone feel welcome.

Eunice was a loving parent, devoted family member and cherished friend. She had a kind and caring heart and found her greatest happiness in spending time with the people she loved. Whether sharing a meal, celebrating special occasions or simply being together, Eunice made every moment meaningful. Her love for her family was constant, unconditional and evident in everything she did.

She will be remembered for her warmth, compassion and the way she made those around her feel loved and supported. Her strength, wisdom and gentle spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of her family and everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.

Eunice’s legacy is one of love, faith and family. The memories she created and the values she instilled will be treasured for generations to come.

Eunice is survived by her daughters Donna (Chris) Cantrell of Rogersville, TN and Emily (Chris) Knight of Jacksonville, FL, grandchildren Chadwick Cantrell, Callie Horton, Shirley Leeanne Morgan, great-grandchildren Johnathan Miller, Clara-Jewell “CJ” Morgan and sister Mae Joiner. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband John F. Horton, granddaughter Sydnei Cantrell, sister Louise Williams and brother Henry “Buck” Leslie.

Though Eunice is no longer with us in person, the love she shared, the memories created, and the lives she touched will remain forever in our hearts. Her legacy of love will continue to inspire all who knew her.

A funeral service will be held in her honor on Saturday, August 1, 2026 at Jones Road Baptist Church, 2506 Jones Rd., Jacksonville, FL 32220 with visitation for friends from 11:00am-12:00pm. Services to follow visitation at 12:00pm.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks to please make a donation in Eunice’s name to Community Hospice of NE FL. However, if you’d like to send flowers, you can have them to the church on Saturday morning from 8:00am-10:00am.
