Foshee Jr., Durwood O. (Kayo) pass away peacefully on July 27, 2018. Kayo was a man of deep faith, genuine empathy, a kind heart, and generous spirit. He was a champion of those facing adversity in life and had faced his own during his 84 years. Our dad served in the Army and loved sharing Army stories with us. A graduate of The Bolles School and Auburn University Kayo was self-employed General Contractor. For most of his life he was an active member of Southside United Methodist Church where he volunteered with the youth, represented Santa Claus a time or two, and served on many committees. Kayo was also a member of the Shrine and a 32nd degree mason.
Kayo will be greatly missed by his loving wife, Sara Pate Foshee. They were just shy of celebrating 61 years of marriage. He will also be missed by his children Rev. Durwood O. Foshee III (Anne), John Pate Foshee (Valerie), and Claire Foshee Botsch (Mark). He will be missed as well by 9 wonderful grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. Kayo also leaves behind many life-long friends who brightened his life.
Our dad shined a bright light for our family. Along with our mom, he took us, and his grandchildren on many wonderful adventures. These memories will be cherished for our lifetime. We are grateful to the many friends who have made these last few years vibrant for him, particularly the Wednesday morning breakfast group. We miss you daddy but are grateful you are now at peace! An eternal Auburn Tiger we say one more time….WAR EAGLE!
In lieu of flowers we suggest contributions be made to the Madison Youth Ranch of the Florida United Methodist Children’s Home (http://www.fumch.org/) which he dearly loved. The family is planning a celebration of Kayo life at a later date.
