

Dave was a friend, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and career pilot. At age 22 he served in the Vietnam War where he earned two Distinguished Flying Cross awards for acts of heroism performed while taking part in aerial flight. Following his tour in Vietnam, Dave spent several years in Savannah, Georgia. While living in Savannah, he played golf, racquetball, sailed Hobie Cats, and enjoyed building R/C cars and airplanes with his kids. Following his retirement from the Army, Dave became a commercial pilot with Piedmont Airlines. He eventually moved to Jacksonville, FL where he retired, again. In his later years he rode motorcycles, enjoyed wildlife photography, learned how to play electric guitar, and hung out with his Labrador, Big Mac (preceded by Jake).
Dave is survived by daughters Amy Brun (Danny) of Sevierville, TN, Jennifer Freeman (Jasper) of Bluffton, SC, grandchildren Erica Burton of Fountain Inn, SC, Dillon Asbell of Charleston, SC, Larkin Leasher of Jacksonville, FL, Harrison and Jackson Gullett of Bluffton, SC, great-grandchildren Phoebe and Stella of Fountain Inn, SC. He is predeceased by his parents, Eugene & Sarah Freeman (Halsey) brother Patrick Freeman, sister Jane Kirschke, and brother-in-law Bill Kirschke.
Future inurnment service to be planned at Arlington National Cemetery.
