

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Barbara Stevens, a cherished wife, devoted mother, beloved grandmother, and respected educator. She departed peacefully on May 17, 2026, at the age of 82.
Barbara dedicated her life to her family and to the field of education. She shared a remarkable 57 years of marriage with her loving husband, Charlie, building a life filled with enduring love. Together, they raised three children, who brought immense joy and purpose to her life.
Barbara’s passion for teaching touched countless lives throughout her distinguished 35-year career in education. For 25 of those years, she was a guiding force within the St. Johns County School District, serving with dedication and distinction as both a teacher and a principal. Her commitment to her students and her schools was evident in every aspect of her work, earning her the esteemed titles of Teacher of the Year and Principal of the Year. She believed deeply in the power of education to transform lives, and her legacy will continue to inspire generations.
Beyond her professional achievements, Barbara reveled in her role as a grandmother. She was immensely proud of her nine grandchildren and cherished every moment spent with them, creating lasting memories filled with love, laughter, and wisdom.
Barbara will be remembered for her unwavering dedication, her compassionate spirit, and her profound impact on her family, her students, and her community. Her kindness, strength, and love will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
She was preceded in death by her parents John and Frances Schwasnick and her brother Joseph Schwasnick. She is survived by her beloved husband, Charlie; her children and their spouses, John (Kelly); Michael (Lynn); Julie (Rob) her grandchildren, Savannah, Wesley, Abigail, Parker, Ellie, Anna, Nolan, Nash and Nora and a host of extended family and friends who will carry her memory in their hearts.
A memorial service will be held on June 6th at 9:00am at Corpus Christi Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Corpus Christi Charity Fund in her honor.
